Professional Florist Competition

The Arkansas Florist Association, as a partner with the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, sponsors the annual TableScape Competition for Professional Florists' at the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show.

This competition is a contest of Floral Design depicting the theme of the Flower and Garden Show on a 5 foot round table.  This contest is judged by AIFD Professional Designers on 10 different points of Professional Floral Design including the theme of the show, which this year is "Carousel of Gardens".  A first place prize of $1,000 is awarded to the winner, sponsored by the Arkansas Florist Association and the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show.  A Winners Cup is passed from annual winner to annual winner, and is displayed in the winners shop for the year.  An individual cup is also awarded to the winner and remains in the winners possession.  Ribbons are also awarded for the top three winners in the contest.  The tables are also judged by the Horticulture Judges from the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show and a ribbon is also issued from them.

As part of the ongoing education process, the Education Committee invites some of the leading Arkansas Master Florist Designers to compete in this contest.

Arkansas Master Florist is a certification program administered by the Arkansas Florist Association and is recognized nationally.

The Big Backyard (Family Learning Center)

We invite you and your family to come learn in our "Big Backyard", the newest addition to the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, where you and your children will learn about life in your backyard.  Once again we are welcoming Dr. Donald Steinkraus, Professor at the University of Arkansas Department of Entomology and his graduate students.

Dr. Steinkraus will be bringing samples from the University of Arkansas' Arthropod Museum Insect Festival held annually in Fayetteville.

The festival provides exposure to living and preserved insects, spiders, and other arachnids.
